COMPANY HISTORY
The H.L. Bouton Company is an American industrial success story. The company was founded in the 1940’s to produce eye protection devices for welders, chippers, and workers exposed to risk in such occupations as tool grinding and other heavy metal shaping and machining operations. It was the first American company to make eye protection equipment the central focus of its business
From those early days to present, Bouton has been a leading manufacturer of the safety eyewear industry. From early in its history, Bouton recognized its responsibility not only to engineer maximum protection into its products, but also maximize worker comfort to ensure the highest possible voluntary compliance in wearing the eye protection devices that the management provides.
This early recognition of the vital role of worker acceptance has led to such innovative Bouton concepts as special molding compounds that provide strength without weight. With this in mind all of Bouton’s products are designed to meet new safety challenges, OSHA requirements, and ANSI standards, as well as the needs of the end-user. Understanding the demand for stronger, more durable lenses and comfortable, flexible frames, has put Bouton’s dedicated engineers on the path of manufacturing excellence, enabling them to engineer many leading advances in safety, comfort and style for protective eyewear. The BOLD™ Series, The UFO™ Series, patented U-Fit™ Temples, optically correct sideshields, virtually indestructible Panalite™ frame material, Lensclean™ products and Lavoptik™ Eye Wash are just a few examples of Bouton’s commitment to the development of quality eye protection products which promote voluntary compliance in the workplace.
Today this innovative spirit continues at H.L. Bouton Company with development of new products for the industrial, medical, and consumer markets.
